Shiro Bekko KOI

Shiro Bekko are solid white koi with Black spotted markings. The Black should appear only above the lateral line. The white base color should be thick, solid, and blemish free. The black should be thick, and solid such as lacquer.

Shiro Bekko are generally not as popular as most other KOI varieties so they are usually not intentionally bred for. Shiro Bekko can be produced from several different spawning combinations but the best ones often will come from Sanke. Shiro Bekko are basically the same as Sanke, just without the Hi Markings.

Old style bekko contain a lot of smaller spots, where as the modern day bekko have a sparser distribution of larger Markings.

Hariwake

Hariwake are a platinum white koi with a Red, Yellow or Orange pattern overlaying.  Hariwake are a metallic koi and are part of the Hikarimoyo class.  Ideally Hariwake should have a bright white platinum base with no hint of yellow and a clear white head.  The color pattern should balanced with clear defined edges.  Variations of Hariwake may also include doitsu or Ginrin.  A doitsu Hariwake with an orange or red pattern is also refered to as Kikusui.

Ginrin Hi Utsuri

Ginrin Hi Utsuri KOI

Here is an example of a great Hi Utsuri with an excellent Ginrin Sheen.  Hi Utsuri have a black base with Hi (Red or Orange) markings overlaying .  The Black appears as a Banded pattern as opposed to the spotted pattern of a Bekko.  A deep Sumi (Black) color is most desirable with no dull spots or black speckles.
